Should Venezuela's election results be contested? 14
In late July 2024, Venezuela held a nationwide election. For over a decade, Nicolás Maduro has maintained an authoritarian regime, during which time the country has faced a severe economic collapse, leading many Venezuelans to leave the country, including migrating to the United States. Despite reports suggesting that opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia won the election, Maduro has declared victory. Navigating this geopolitically is complex. There is a concern that enabling Maduro's continued hold on power, could potentially destabilize neighboring countries, further widening the effect of this regime . How do you feel about this complex situation? Do Venezuelans deserve the diplomatic right to have the election results contested?
